Technology has proven to be very effective for learning!

Evidence

There have been numerous amounts of research and studies done that prove the effectiveness of technology in learning.

According to Learning Technology:The Effective Use of Technology in Education, there are five benefits surrounding the effective use of technology in the classroom. These benefits include bringing new resources into the classroom, motivating learning, providing new teaching tools, accomodating learning styles, and redefining the role of teachers; all of which are backed by research.

By bringing new resources into the classroom, technology can be used to exercise students multiple intelligences as researched and writtin about by Howard Gardner. This is extremely beneficial because it allows students to use technology in a way that incorporates many different intellegences into one activity.

Technology has proven to have many ways of motivating learning. It can be extremely more exciting and interactive for students instead of just listening to the teacher talk. It also allows students to assume more responsibility for their learning.

It serves as a great outlet for providing new teaching tools for teachers. Instruction can be made different or better help those in the classroom who learn differently. Technology used in this way can also prepare students for the future and help them to develop "higher level thinking skills."

There has been a large amount of research surrounding technology and accomoadating learning styles. "Research on learning styles has found that most students are concrete learners who learn best through interpersonal communication, group learning, sharing, mutual support, team processes, and positive reinforcement" (Learning Technology:The Effective Use of Technology in Education, 4-5). Teachers have noticed that technology with its many functions can be used to meet students' needs in a variety of ways.

Technology is constantly redefining the role of teachers. It has the potential to enhance students learning in individual and group work. Technology can create active seekers of information.
